Learning Greek in Greece, where our own language and history has its origins, you will learn the language quickly and easily. You will learn the conversational and informal styles of the language by interacting everyday during your adventure with people who are native Greeks, who probably won’t be willing or able to communicate in English. You will be absorbed into the dazzling everyday life of the Greek people, its sights, sounds, and smells. You will gain knowledge and appreciate the storied Greek culture: the history, the art, the architecture, the food, and the people. As a part of the immersion program, you will attend courses in which you will learn the Greek alphabet, how to read, and how to write in Greek as well. Learning the Greek language as part of an immersion is a superb way to experience a new culture.

Learning the Greek language, though seemingly intimidating, can have many benefits for you. Study in Germany

More students from the U.S. are going to Germany to study. Part of the reason is the quality of education. Germany universities have a reputation of excellence but the real reason is cost.

Students in the United States normally face a fee of over $50,000 after four years of college, whilst in Germany at a public university they can expect to pay an average of $700 a semester, plus between $50 and $150 in registration fees. In public universities tuition is free. The $700 covers the cost of arranged lodging and other official expenses. Even if you add food, transportation, and other costs, German universities are an incredible bargain.

The German government also offers scholarships to help defray the costs of fees, lodging, and any number of other daily expenses that come with studying in Germany.

Study Abroad - Preferable Background Work

Quite often, you don't have a chance to check the university you are thinking of attending before the year starts, especially if this university is in another country. But it is worth the trouble and money, if your chances of attending are serious, to try and travel there and check the campus as well as the surroundings.

Why not consider combining it with a trip for the whole family; a vacation of pleasure and future planning. It will give you a better idea of what to expect, what kind of accomodations are available, what student life is like in that university and area and, very importantly, you can meet your future professors, mentors and advisors before you start studying with them. It can also make a good impression with them and will give you a foot in the door in terms of setting your reputation among the faculty.

Study Abroad - Unpredictable Problems

When thinking of studying abroad, you need to take into consideration the fact that if you are just finishing your first or second year, meaning BA or MA, you might face problems when returning to your country in terms of continuing your education.

If you stop in the middle of a degree and take time off or return to your country to finish the degree, some of the points you received under your degree studies abroad might not be taken into account by the university in your home country. This is because every university and every country has a different system and different programs combining different courses and obligatory parts to each degree. You may complete three years out of four of studies for your Bachelor's degree, or what is known in America as undergraduate studies, but in your home country you will need to finish two more years in order to graduate with the degree completed.

Also, if you finished a degree in another country and return to your country to continue onto the next level, you may have to complete some compulsory courses at the university, which were not included in your study program abroad.

Studying abroad certainly has many advantages but it's good to be aware of the possible pitfalls as well.
